We are Adam and Megan Hermanson, and we are opening our home in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota. We live in a tri-level home in a quiet neighborhood, with walking trails close by. The available bedroom is located in the basement. The person supported will have their own bedroom personalized to their liking. We also have a large backyard with a garden and strawberry boxes.
We have children that are ages 7 and 12. We all care for one another, are respectful, and express appreciation to one another whenever we can. Our children help with household chores and, if able, the person supported could help out as well. We love to laugh and joke. A new person in our home will be appreciated for their personality and respected for the things they value.
A perfect day would look like spending time together, going for a walk or hike, playing games, and enjoying a good meal. Typically, we eat at the table together every evening. We engage with the community by attending local events. Our favorite aspect of our community is that it is small and everyone looks out for each other.
Family time is important, including extended family time. We make a point to get together for family dinners, play games and just enjoy each other’s company. We love to spend time outdoors, both in the warmer and winter months. We also enjoy reading in our free time.
For more than decade, Megan has worked with adults with disabilities. It has prepared her to support an individual with all needs. We also feel our experience as parents has prepared us to open our hearts and home to give an individual the best care possible.
