Nelson Family – Mountain Lake, MN

Nelson Family is ready to welcome someone new into their home and help them reach their goals!

We are Kelly and Mike Nelson, and we live in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. Our home is a renovated Victorian house, in a residential area of our town. Our community is growing, and we have nature trails and lakes nearby. We are a close-knit family that consists of our adult children, their spouses, and our 13 grandchildren. Now that our children are grown, we have plenty of room to invite someone new to join us. Our hope is for this individual to feel a part of our family, not just an extension of it.

Our children and grandchildren visit our house frequently, with several large group gatherings per year. A good match for our home would be someone that enjoys being around others, especially children. We consider ourselves to be active people, with an appreciation for nature and being outside. Mike works part time as the town’s mayor and Kelly works part time with our church’s administration.

The person moving into our home will have their own second-story bedroom with a large closet. There is also an area right outside the bedroom that can become their personal living room, should they wish. There is an open, main floor that includes a kitchen, dining room and living room, in addition to a family room in the basement.

As a couple, we are the happiest when we are around those we love. We enjoy spending time together and with our family. Our faith is very important to us. Both of us have backgrounds in education and experience working with students at various stages of abilities. Mike has worked direct care positions within group residential settings. We also have experience working in the consulting field helping people work toward their goals. Some goals may be complex, and others may be quite basic. Nonetheless, we are excited to support somebody to achieve their goals and live life to its fullest.
