My name is Vincent Henry, Jr., and I am excited to open my home and provide support to someone. My household includes myself, my dad and his dog. We live in the Jordan neighborhood of North Minneapolis that has a thriving community and is close to the river. I have bedrooms available on the upper and basement levels of the house. The basement level includes a semi-private suite, which includes a bathroom, kitchenette and living room. The individual supported would have the option of either bedroom, depending on their goals.
My family and I love to spend quality time together, whether that is watching a movie, playing outside or just chatting around the dining room table. A new person would be able to integrate within my family seamlessly as we create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment.
My dad and I split most of the chores, including cleaning the common spaces, taking out trash and doing yard work. I would expect a new person to help in whatever capacity they can. What is important to me is that there is harmony in the house, and everyone gets along, communicates and respects each other and their boundaries.
I work as a grant manager for the homeless youth division for the State of Minnesota. For over a decade I have worked part time as a DSP, as well as several years working with foster youth. I have worked in a group home setting, working with individuals with developmental disabilities, and I am able to provide person-centered, trauma-informed care to assist in developing goals and helping somebody to live their best life. This makes me uniquely qualified to provide the type of support that will allow a person to thrive.
